What's on your heart and mind today?

I feel for everyone here.  I just want to wish everyone here happy Holidays- whatever you celebrate.  I know most of you celebrate Christmas and thats what brings you here.  It makes me so sad seeing so many in need and want.  I wish everyday that I could help you all and reading these stories breaks my heart.  Why is it that the people that have money aren't here reading our stories and helping us.  But as poor as we all are money wise we all want so badly to help each other but don't have the means other than advice and recommendations.  I don't know, this may sound weird, but every morning I wake up and just wish, hope, and pray that I can some way help everyone.  I can't stand to know that people are suffering in any way.  You only get to live once and everyone should get to enjoy this gift from God.  Don't get me wrong, the advice and resources I've gotten from people here has been a huge help, and everyone here is so full of heart and kindness and this is truely a gift.  I just know that everyone here and all over the world is looking for more- gifts, money, housing, food, clothing, etc... and not all of them get the help they need.  It is just sad.  I hope some day when we all get on our feet we remember our time here and are able to help others.  I truley hope everyone here finds what they are looking for and get what they need to get on their feet and have A Merry Christmas.  I Pray for ALL OF YOU.  I really do wish I could help. May God Bless You All now and forever.

What's on your heart and mind today?

I live in Rhode Island and my family and I are struggling like everyone else.  I have applied for foodstamps and so forth and my husband is waiting for unemployment from being layed off.  I was wondering if anyone knows of a way to get car seats for my 3yr old and my 8 month old.  They are both outgrowing the ones we have.  Unfortunately they are very expensive and I've been unable to find any help in getting them.  My 8 month old has also outgrown her bassinette and I need a crib for her.  Any info is helpful, thank you.  If I am able to get new car seats I am willing to donate the ones I have to any one who needs them.  They are in great condition, my daughters are just growing so fast.

What's on your heart and mind today?

Just revisiting and updating.  I have done alot of praying lately and no amount of money was gonna save my family, I guess sometimes what your asking for isn't really what you need.  Money can buy alot of things, but in the end you can't take them with you anyway.  My husbands car was repossessed and last week our final blow was dealt when the company he has been with laid him off indefinately.  We decided at this point we have no other options and have filed jointly for bankcruptcy.  Though we may never be able to buy a house or car we now have peice of mind.  We aren't stressed to the max anymore.  We are still struggling because it could be 4-6 weeks before we see an unemployment check but I have found so many agencies to help with small things like diapers, food, and heating assisstance.  Money is what got us in this mess and I never even should have thought that what caused the problem could solve it.  Instead the kindness of others has saved us.  Money runs out and causes debt but people are always there and though sometimes they may be hard to find, God will lead them to you when you are truley in need.  And sometimes you find things you have just laying around someone else may need and pass it on.  Though it wouldv'e have been easier to recieve a $20,000 dollar bailout and just move on, I actually feel this was much better.  I've meet some really nice people who have helped me in more ways than one and I've learned even though I don't have money I can help others too.  I hope everyone here finds there way and can stand up and go on.  Remeber chin up, don't ever look down or you might miss what your really looking for.  God Bless all of you and goodluck with your journeys.

hoping this helps

Hello all.  As I am in the same predicament as several of you I don't have any cash to hand out but I know of different ways you can aquire aid.  I hope this is helpful.  Alot of states do an adopt a family for holidays if you are looking for presents for your children.  To get on lists call local churches, salvation armies, and even the department of human services.  The department of human services is a huge resource of help because if they can't help you they will refer you to other programs that can.  I didn't qualify for cash assisstance but they helped me find programs for gas grants, lower electric bills, locations of food and clothing banks in my area and alot more.  I hope you all find what you and your families need.  As far as getting out of debt, I'm still at a loss.  When I find a way out of that I'll let you all know.

What's on your heart and mind today?

I have noticed there are quite a few families out there either pregnant or with newborns stuggling( I know what it's like).  I don't have much to offer but I do have some clothes for infant girl from 0 -6 months.  About 2 stop and shop bags full of onesies, dresses and other stuff.  I have no money or means to ship them but I live in the Tiverton R.I. area if interested.  They are used but are like new.  No stains or rips.  I would rather see someone in need benefit from them rather than giving them to consignment.  They are really cute and you can't beat FREE!

My Family Needs You

Hello everyone. I am writing in hopes that there will be someone who has extra money that wants to help a family in need.  I know there are more families out there in need as well, as I have read many other heart wrenching stories of others with children struggling.  I pray for you all.  I know thats not as comforting as getting the money you need, but in my situation it's the best I can do.  We have stopped paying all of our creditors so we have money for food and basic bills and we are trying now to come up with enough money to file for bankruptcy (about $1,500.00).  My oldest daughter Lexi is turning 3 on October 3rd and I would like to have a birthday party she will enjoy as well.  Unfortunatley everything, and I mean everything has a price tag.  We have over $20,000.00 dollars in debt and no way out.  Well, I know there are others out there looking for a hand out too so I'll keep this short.  My family is still in need and if anyone has extra I'm still holding my hand out praying.  I do hope all of you in need find what you need and are able to get back on your feet as well, especially those of you with children.

About mommy26

 in response to sheshe030...

I have indeed tried to re- apply for assisstance, unfortunately RI has not adjusted their income allowances.  I didn't have child care when I was working.  I worked the overnight shift while my husband was home, and when I got home in the morning he would go to work.  I lost my job due to unfair circumstances (I was pregnant) currently being investigated by the department of human rights.  This could take up to 3 years.  I'm just crying out for help before our situation gets worse.  Most of our creditors refused to work out low income hardship agreements with us because they believe by attaching his wages they can get more money.

About mommy26

Hi.  I am a married mother of two beautiful little girls.  My husband also has two children of his own from a previous relationship.  Over the years we have racked up large amounts of credit card and bank loan debt trying to keep our heads above water and provide for our family.  In the last year, I have lost my job, my husband's car was repossessed, and we were evicted from our nice apartment.  Fortunately we did find a cheaper apartment.  I have been unable to return to work because I have no experience and my pay wouldn't even cover the daycare expenses, so I stay home with my girls.  My husband works two jobs, but we are unable to pay any of our debt.  Lawyers are now threatening to attach his wages, successfully taking money away from our rent, and taking food from my childrens mouths.  We tried to apply for state assisstance, but they don't account for bills or any debt you may have.  They strictly go by your gross income which put us over the allowable limit for cash assisstance.  I am at a loss for what to do.  We can't claim bankcruptcy because even that costs money.  I want to get out of this mess before it gets any worse.  My children and I barely get to see my husband because he's always at work.  We have a pile of bills sitting on a bookshelf in the corner.  We use to open and pay what we could.  Now if I open one it ussually makes me cry because I know the next letter from that bill will be a court summons from a lawyer.  I do hope that there are people out there willing to help me and my family get out of this predicament.  I pray everyday for help to turn this situation around and I swear I will never ever take out another personal loan or apply for another credit card ever, ever, ever again.  Please, if you have extra money and are looking to warm a heart, or a whole family's hearts, or simply just do a good deed, help us!!!
